Since early 2011, I’ve been involved in a brilliant live music project called Tram Sessions. If you live in Melbourne, it’s likely you’ve come across one of the videos or been lucky enough to witness one of the performances on your daily commute. It started with a small crew, one camera and if we were lucky, a sound guy as well. I stepped on board as the booking agent, camera operator and editor in 2011. Over the years, we were joined by over 50 artists from around the world including Paul Kelly, Ben Kweller, Amanda Palmer, Xavier Rudd, Alpine and Passenger.

To say this was an experimental production experience is an absolute understatement! The limitations of jumping on board a tiny tram and capturing a surprise performance was difficult, but it forced us to keep things simple logistically and in the edit suite.

It’s been a long and incredible journey with the Tram Sessions crew, but as with most voluntary roles, the time has come to let someone new people enjoy the crazy ride. I’ve included some of my most memorable sessions for you to watch below.
